Mash Up
Forgive me, it’s been a while since I posted. I have been at a loss for coherent sentences to string together into a pleasing whole. In the meantime, I hope you’ll enjoy my mini reader’s digest of art inspiration.
Art Shop
When I was visiting Jackson, Wyoming, in June, I made a special trip to Art Shop. Located in Moose (yes, that’s the name of the town) at the gateway to Grand Teton National Park, Art Shop is the brainchild of Alex Keenan. The shop features all local artists and is so pleasingly laid out that I wanted to stay there all day. Alex is a visionary – and truly dedicated to local artists. I found a gorgeous artisan cutting board, a lovely silk scarf to give my mom, and a beaded necklace with three totemic trees on a pendant. I’m still dreaming about the Lisa Walker upcycled army blanket printed with a buffalo design and fringed in rainbow pom poms. Even if you only have one penny to your name you should visit Art Shop just to see the epic wall art by Claudia Bueno! Or check it out online at artshopjh.com.
Jennifer Rabin
Another gushing recommendation: For serious thinkers about art, sign up for Jennifer Rabin’s Substack Out of the Box. It’s so good. I know Jennifer from when I lived in Portland 20 year ago (WTF?). She’s one of those people who operate on such a high level of integrity and self-alignment it shows in everything they do. She doesn’t know I’m going to rave about her like this. I hope you’ll rush right over and start reading her brilliance and checking out her powerful artwork.
Limina
This is my dream endeavor. Please someone introduce me to these women.
Anna Fidler
I’m obsessed with Anna Fidler’s work. I learned about her from artist/curator Michelle Ramin, whose work is also transfixing! More on both of them in future posts.
Enjambment
Can a literary device be used to make sense of art? I’m going to try. Hastags: Georgio Morandi, Ed Lavino, and Mitchell Johnson. Stay tuned.
